"Julien has had a long and successful career starting with the Hotel du Cap - Eden Roc, nearly two decades ago, where he honed his skills and went on to win the “Drinks International Bartender Challenge” in London in 2004.

For the next several years, he continued perfecting his skills, working through high-end hotels and bars spanning four different continents. In 2009, he returned to France, settled in Montpellier and opened his own bar, Papa Doble.

Although Julien had the necessary skills, he still had his work cut out for him. Papa Doble was hidden in a basement in a town that wasn’t yet on board with the craft cocktail renaissance. But he persevered, believing if he put out a good product that the public would come. And the hard work paid off, gaining Papa Doble a place on the Worlds 50 Best Bars list in 2011.

It wasn’t just his bar, but the man himself, who gained recognition. And in 2013 he was voted Most Influential Bartender at the Cocktail & Spirits Awards. Not one to rest on his laurels, he went on to found the Baton Rouge bar in Paris with friend and business partner Joseph Biolatto. Somehow, he has still managed to find time to put out four different books, co-create the Suze Bitters range and work as a bar consultant. On top of that, this well-rounded and genuinely nice guy also finds time for another personal passion: photography.

Clearly Julien is a formidable presence on both the French and international cocktail scene. One other notch of note on his belt: In 2012 he was winner of the Havana Club International Cocktail Grand Prix in Havana, Cuba."
